Welcome to our site!
Nice that you take the trouble to read this text. Here I would like to explain my intention first, before I start with the realization, therefore now this post.
Secretly, I’ve been involved in game development since my childhood. More precisely, since the early 1990s, when I was allowed to play games like Pirates! or California Games on my brother’s C64. Game development was also the original reason I became a software developer in the first place. As a teenager, I always imagined myself working at id Software someday with legends like John Carmack. Regardless of the fact that this wouldn’t be possible in the current time as the world doesn’t stop for my sake, I never made the professional entry into game development. Since I earn money with software development, I do this by developing enterprise software in the broadest sense. But some time ago I started again to get more concretely involved with game development, and I see the great advantage of being able to incorporate my knowledge from other fields. And so the idea for this blog was born.
In order to do justice to all those who prefer to read in German rather than English, I would like to make this site bilingual. But the more serious you are about software development in general or game development in particular, the less you can avoid English. It is, after all, the lingua franca in computer science. 🤷
In the current time, I would probably rather have to create a suitable YouTube channel. But that would not suit me. First, I can not stand my recorded voice. Secondly, I would then have to speak English 😉, in which I lack the practice. Third, I like to write such texts here on the sofa 😉. Also, I planned — at least for the beginning — to focus on programming, and for that, in my humble opinion, the written form is better suited. There are few programming videos that have the right speed for me, while I can not only read text at my current desired speed, but then also easily copy source code snippets.
Although there is also a lonely YouTube channel of mine, where I tried to keep a small DevLog. But then I had to put the project aside again for the time being. But it’s not the end of the day yet, maybe I’ll continue the project sometime.
And if it should support the treatment of a topic meaningfully, I will surely also create videos in the future. However, I will probably have to venture into topics like effects, Blender or sound 😱 first.
I hope that you will like my future topics and the way I present them and that you will have a lot of fun reading them.
